Catalog Content Introduction to translation studies; theoretical and practical answers to “What is translation?” and “Who is a translator?”;Stages of the translation process, basic concepts and terminology; Types of translation: semantic/literal vs. communicative/target-oriented; Translation approaches and strategies; Structural, syntactic, and semantic differences between Arabic and Turkish; Principles of equivalence, context analysis, and cultural transfer; Translation techniques at word, sentence, and paragraph levels; Translator’s role and ethics; new media translation; common problems and solutions, and development of linguistic and cultural competence.
